Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Who is it for?
Many people notice that, as they age, the skin around their eyes droops or puffs out. Blepharoplasty is a procedure that can correct these effects of aging to give the face a more youthful and alert appearance. Please keep in mind that eyelid surgery will improve the look of puffiness below the eyes and droopy upper eyelids, but it will not affect the brow area, frown lines, or crow’s feet. Many patients elect to have eyelid surgery in conjunction with a brow lift or face lift for maximum facial rejuvenation. If you live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and would like to learn more about eyelid surgery, contact Dr. Nguyen’s Arlington office at (817) 468-7000.

How does it work?
Incisions for your eyelid surgery will be placed where they will be the most inconspicuous—either in the crease of the upper eyelid, below the lower lashes, or within the lower lid. The surgery involves carefully removing and repositioning the delicate tissue around the eye to reduce excess and bestow a more youthful appearance.

What happens after the procedure?
After your surgery, you will use ointment, cold compresses, and medication to help reduce swelling and dryness and irritation of the eyes. Most people are able to return to work within ten days of the procedure, but must be careful to wear tinted glasses and avoid sun exposure until the incisions are completely healed.
