Arm Lift

Who is it for?
If you have stubborn excess skin and/or fat on your upper arms, an arm lift (also known as a brachioplasty) could be the right procedure for you. Many patients who undergo arm lifts have experienced major weight loss that has resulted in loose skin in the upper arm area. Others choose to have arm lifts because age or genetics has left them with loose skin or excess fatty tissue.

If you live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and would like to learn more about the arm lift procedure, contact Dr. Nguyen’s Arlington office at (817) 468-7000.

How does it work?
The arm lift works by removing excess fat and skin from the upper arms, and tightening the remaining tissue to give the arms a firmer, smoother, and more youthful appearance. Under general anesthesia, Dr. Nguyen will make an incision along the inside of your upper arm, from your armpit area to your elbow. He will pull the skin and tissue tight and use liposuction to remove excess fat. He will then remove the excess skin by trimming it away, and close your incision.

What happens after the procedure?
During your recovery period, you will wear compression garments to protect your upper arms and optimize your results. You will be given pain medication, and you will need to properly care for your incisions as they heal. At a follow-up visit to Dr. Nguyen, he will remove your stitches. Scarring will occur at the site of the incision, but it will likely fade with time, and for most patients, a scar is preferable to loose skin or fat.
